Genetic consultancy
for Animal wildlife
Building the future
WHAT WE OFFER
We provide a reliable and science-based genetic consultancy service to help companies, NGOs, and environmental consultants to determine the number of great ape individuals in a specific area. Our approach is fast, non-invasive, cost-effective, and is backed by cutting-edge molecular protocols in primate genomics.
WHO IS THIS FOR
Enviromental NGOs
Aiming to monitor and protect endangered primate populations in sensitive habitats
Biodiversity Consulting Firms
In need of fast and accurate primate data for reports and impact studies
Infraestructure & Mining Companies
Seeking biodiversity compliances and responsible developments
WHO IS THIS FOR
OUR GENETIC APROACH
We use a molecular approach combining hundreds of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) and Short Tandem Repeat (STR) in the genome to analyze non-invasive chimpanzee samples, identifying individuals, their species or subspecies, and genetic relationships. This ethical, low-impact approach is ideal for monitoring primate populations without disturbing their natural behavior.
Supported by our academic expertise in primate genomics, and thanks to our extended genomic database, our method ensures highly accurate and reproducible results in a substantial fraction of the collected samples. Our innovative approach is a powerful tool that combines scientific precision with real-world applicability for conservation and environmental assessment.
OUR GENETIC APROACH
why our sequencing approach makes the difference
High Number of independent markers
We work with more than 200 independent SNPs across the genome specially designed to maximize the properties of individual singularity. We combine this genotyping approach with the characterization of a group of STRs to maximize the specificity of our method.
Cost-effective
Optimized for use in high-volum impact. We can process hundreds of samples in a short time
Report-ready output
Usable for environmental approvals and CSR reports
Non-invasive
Ethically sourced samples, no disturbance to wildlife
WHY GT-SET MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
"By developing new molecular tools for primate genomics, our group has provided transformative insights into population genetics and, evolution, and now we have the opportunity to apply these new developments to novel challenges"
KEEP BUILDING THE INFRAESTRUCTURES OF TOMORROW WHILE PROTECTING ALLS’ BIODIVERISTY HERITAGE
Our genetic consultancy service helps infrastructure and conservation organizations identify chimpanzee populations through non-invasive, cost-effective methods — ensuring every project meets the highest standards of biodiversity responsibility.
genome sequencing
Amplicon sequencing Technology and Its Advantages for Conservation Genomics
Our methods are based on SNP-Amplicon sequencing, is a high-throughput genotyping platform designed to simultaneously analyze hundreds of genetic markers (SNPs) and STR genotyping across thousands of samples. The method has been developed for large-scale population genetics studies to providing a technology for a cost-effective genotyping. This method is particularly suitable for projects relying on non-invasive samples such as feces and hairs, and it offers unique advantages overexisting methods.
Advantages over Current Technologies
Conservation monitoring requires tools that are robust, affordable, and applicable to degraded DNA. Our method addresses these needs more effectively than current alternatives such as RAD-seq, microsatellites, genomic capture or commercial SNP arrays among others.
- Cost-efficiency and scalability
- Suitability for degraded DNA
- High accuracy and reproducibility
- Still sample dependent. Our method can not recover genotypes from samples with ultra low DNA content or contaminated from diet or external manipulation
Impact on Conservation Monitoring
Our genetic approach can provide conservationists, regulators, and industry partners with an unprecedented ability to track individuals and, assess population structure and connectivities.
In short, our unique molecular approach combines affordability, accuracy, scalability, and adaptability, making it uniquely positioned to transform genomic monitoring from a high-end research practice into an operational tool for biodiversity studies.
WHY CHOOSE US
We are not just service providers — we are one of the global leaders in primate genomics and conservation. Our team combines cutting-edge research, real-world field experience, and a strong international network to ensure your project meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy and biodiversity responsibility.
Featured in the best Academic Journals
Our work is backed by solid science and peer-reviewed publications. We have contributed more than 100 papers in primate genomics, including a special issue of Science (https://www.science.org/toc/science/380/6648), where we led the genomic sequencing of over 50% of the world’s primate species — a milestone in evolutionary and conservation research.
Driving Global Conservation Initiatives
Our commitment extends far beyond research. We actively participate in high-impact conservation efforts, from forensic projects to study the origins of the illegal trafficking of great apes in Africa (Revive & Restore) to our collaboration with Sabine Plattner Africa Charities (SPAC) to study gorillas and global biodiversity in Congo and environmental DNA surveys in Africa and the Amazonas. Our science serves action.
Strong Partnerships with Leading Conservation Actors
We collaborate with renowned organizations like Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA), Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP), Sabine Plattner African Charities (SPAC) and the Revive & Restore Foundation, creating a solid ecosystem of scientists, conservationists, and institutions. Our network ensures that each project has broad visibility, support, and credibility.
Ethical Guidelines
Our consultancy is committed to promoting responsible and sustainable business practices. All client companies engaging our services are required to adhere to the IFC Performance Standard 6 guidelines on biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of living natural resources. This commitment must be reflected either within the service contract or through a signed declaration confirming compliance with IFC Performance Standard 6, regardless of whether the company seeks or receives IFC financing.
